The Safest Place There Is — and You Don't Build It (Proverbs 18:10)

Some mornings the fear is there before your feet even hit the floor — a low hum under everything, a sense that something out there is bigger than you and you're the one who has to hold it all together. So without even deciding to, you start building: planning, bracing, running every worst case, trying to make yourself safe on your own. Proverbs 18:10 was written for exactly that morning: "The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe." Here's what most of us get backwards — the safest place there is isn't something you build. It's already standing, and its door is a Name. In these few morning minutes, Norman walks through why fear turns you into an exhausted builder, what "run into it" actually means, the honest word for when the fear is bigger than a hard morning, and the one small sentence you can pray before the building starts. This is an EMBER — a short from Faith Is Fire. If the podcast is the bonfire, these are the embers: small, warm, portable wisdom to reignite your day. One Proverb to start your morning. 🔥 A gentle, honest word — no toxic positivity, no prosperity gospel. "Safe" doesn't mean the scary thing disappears (the tower is a refuge, not a force field). And if the fear you carry is real anxiety or panic, running to God and getting real help are not rivals — do both. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 The dread before your feet hit the floor 1:02 The verse — Proverbs 18:10 1:22 The tower you run into (not the one you build) 2:39 Why fear turns you into a builder 3:30 When the fear is bigger than a hard morning 4:17 The tower is a Name 5:11 Today's dose — one sentence 6:12 Breathe — set down the bricks 📖 Scripture: Proverbs 18:10 (KJV) · echoes: Proverbs 18:11, Psalm 61:3, Hebrews 6:18, Acts 4:12 ▶️ MORE EMBERS 🌅 Start the series here → Ep. 1: A Merry Heart Is Medicine (Proverbs 17:22) https://youtu.be/BgHDDsrAcqg Ep. 6 — The Real Reason You Can't Sleep at 2 A.M.
