Broken but Not Abandoned — The Psychology of Resilience & God’s Promise (Isaiah 43)

You can be broken and still functioning — and convinced it’s permanent. Norman & Rosselyn on neuroplasticity, trauma, and the promise of Isaiah 43. There's a kind of broken that nobody around you can see. You still show up. You still answer "I'm fine." But somewhere inside, something cracked — and you've quietly concluded it's permanent. In this episode of Faith Is Fire, Norman and Rosselyn walk into that hidden break from two directions at once. First, the science: your brain was never fixed wiring. Neuroplasticity and the research on post-traumatic growth reveal that damage is not the final shape — the broken places can be rewired, rebuilt, and in some cases made stronger than before. Then, the promise: Isaiah 43, where God doesn't say if you pass through the waters and the fire — He says when. And He doesn't promise to keep the broken out of the flames. He promises to be in them with you, calling you by name. We look at the believers Scripture refuses to sanitize — Elijah under the broom tree, Job in the ashes, David crying "My God, why have You forsaken me?" — and the three men in Daniel's furnace who walked out unburned, but not alone. Because the pattern of Scripture is not that God prevents the breaking. The pattern is that God enters it. Broken is not the same as finished. And functioning is not the same as fine. This one is for the person still pretending they're intact. Faith isn't fragile. It's forged in fire. ⏱ Chapters: 00:00 — Intro 01:09 — Chapter 1 · The Break Nobody Sees 05:06 — Chapter 2 · Why Broken Doesn't Mean Finished (The Neuroscience) 09:22 — Chapter 3 · Through the Fire With You — Isaiah 43 Explained 13:53 — Chapter 4 · How the Broken Actually Rebuild 18:11 — Chapter 5 · If You Feel Abandoned, Read This 📖 Scriptures referenced: Isaiah 43:1–2 · Isaiah 46:4 · Daniel 3:25–27 · Psalm 22:1 · 1 Kings 19:4 · Job 42:1–6 ▶ Watch next — "Before You Understand: The Faith That Moves Before the Map" 🔥 Subscribe for new episodes every week.
